While travelling across the metros , you will always confront with the traffic blocks, pollution, scarcity of water, etc. These metros are accomodating more than what they are designed to. That means overloaded. So how to maintain the equilibrium.
.
Idea can be derived from a simple example.
As the family grows, the facilities needs to grow. The house, rooms, size, energy etc. As years go by, so do the size and technology. While a family comprising of a father and mother and two little ones, can travel in a scooter or bike in the begninng. As little ones becomes next generation, opt for a different alternative. It could be a car or it could be other set of scooters or it could be a combination of car and scooter. Else the same family can risk their life travelling in the same old scooter.

First option is to improve the existing infrastructure, where the maximum people can be afforded without any congestion. But this always fails as political will is always a hinderance.
Second better way is to focus on surronding cities and partly shift the extra load to those cities. But at the same time there should not be a compromise in infrastructure and technology.Scalability always matter.
The third and most efficient way is to design another city with proper guidance from a city planning THINK-TANK. The design should be done, foreseeing the upcoming decades running costs, loads , traffic and environment, resources.

Well said mate. I always felt that our 5 year plans are too short sighted. We need to look beyond that and plan for may be the next 50 years. This i think would help us get the maximum out of our available resources.
A example for that is the roads in kerala. It is a state which is blessed with more rain than most of its neighbors and so the roads should be laid with this in mind. However our govt always goes for the lowest quotes and this in turn leads to potholes every 6 months which would mean unending string of patch work. The govt ends up paying more and officials and contractors have their pockets full. The best solution would be to invest more in laying down rain resistant roads which will be able able to withstand this for the next 15 years. This will result in big savings for the govt and the tax payer, less wear and tear of vehicles, fuel consumption etc
As all know we need powerful politicians with a great vision.Upto an extend let them be corrupt. But it should not affect common mans life.
